As part of our daily practice, we assess and treat dental patients of different ages and medical backgrounds. Despite our best efforts, medical emergencies in a dental setting are rare and can and will occur. In this lecture, Dr. Alanes will discuss these emergencies and their etiologies and teach providers how to identify and treat them promptly and appropriately. Each member of the dental practice plays a crucial role in this emergent situation to provide the best possible care. In this presentation, Dr. Alanes will explain ways to communicate openly, assign responsibilities, and rehearse and document the incident effectively. By understanding emergencies and how these can be handled, the treating dentist can ensure the safety of their patients as well as enhance their office's awareness.
